The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

DIFP IX almost ready to go to print

25 September 2014
We completed the prelims to DIFP IX, checked the index and gave the text of the volume a final once over. By the end of September DIFP IX was almost ready for print.

On 13 September Michael gave the 2014 Tip O’Neill Irish Diaspora Lecture in the Drumfree Community Centre, Buncrana, County Donegal, located close to Tip O’Neill’s birthplace. The lecture focussed on Irish-American relations during the Second World War. More details can be found here.

Michael spoke at the National Museum of Ireland on 28 September looking at Ireland and the world during the Second World War.
