We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Writing the introduction to DIFP IX

With the body text of DIFP IX finalised our attention turned to writing the introduction to DIFP IX.

While it might sound like a straightforward task, the introduction is one of the most important parts of a DIFP volume and requires a great deal of care in drafting. It has to capture the content and nuances of the volume it introduces in a succinct and yet comprehensive manner. Not surprisingly, it took all of the month to get a draft in place and to feed in the comments, corrections and amendments of the editorial team.
