The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Research in Data Science: public vs privately funded

The RIA Engineering and Computer Science Committee is sponsoring a panel at the Government's Data Summit on 15 and 16 June 2017 in the Convention Centre, Dublin.

The Summit will bring together a range of stakeholders, nationally and internationally, to discuss some of the key issues arising from the ever expanding role of data in modern life.

The committee's final lecture in its 2016-17 lecture series by Brian Mac Namee on 'Show me your data and I'll tell you who you are' will also be delivered at the Data Summit.
