Archaeology Research Excavation Grants

Together with the National Monuments Service the Royal Irish Academy welcomes applications for independent research excavations in the Republic of Ireland.

Directed Archaeological Research for World Heritage Sites

Together with the National Monuments Service the Royal Irish Academy welcomes applications from those working on the archaeology of the Brú na Bóinne and Sceilig Mhichíl World Heritage Sites to seek funding for non-destructive work.

Archaeology Radiocarbon Dates Scheme

The Royal Irish Academy in association with Queen's University Belfast offers radiocarbon dating for up to twelve applicants per annum to be used for the purposes of archaeological research in Ireland. Seven samples were awarded in early 2020 and there are five remaining for the September 2020 round of applicants.The offer is intended to assist research projects and academics from all levels are welcome to apply to this scheme (undergraduate, post-graduate students, established researchers etc.).
