The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Christmas Opening Hours

Wishing all our members and friends a very Happy Christmas and New Year.

The President and Council of the Royal Irish Academy, together with all staff, would like to wish you a happy Christmas.

The building will be closed from Christmas Eve, 24 December until Wednesday 6 January inclusive.

Our Library is open by appointment and we continue to bring the best of Irish research to you through online events and our many publications.

Browse our talks and webinars and stay in touch by subscribing to our newsletter.

Our books and stationery are all available in our online bookshop and we offer delivery or ‘click and collect’ (Tues–Thurs only). The last day of 'click and collect' is 23 December. Any postal orders placed after 14.00 on 23 December will not be posted until we reopen on 7 January 2021.
