The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. We are very pleased to announce the re-opening of the Academy Library on a limited basis from Monday, August 10, 2020 from 10.30-13:00.

We have put several measures in place to ensure the safety of our library users and staff, including the introduction of an appointment service to consult material during our new opening hours (10.30 am - 1.00 pm). You can find out more information about these measures on our visitor booking page. Please note that we are unable to facilitate access to the Library without an appointment. If you have any queries, please contact library@ria.ie or phone 01-6090620 / 01-6090603. The Academy is re-opening on a phased basis and other services will continue to be delivered remotely during this period while preparations are put in place for a wider reopening of Academy buildings. We thank you for your continued support.

Face coverings

In line with the Government's publication of Statutory Instrument No. 296, face coverings are now mandatory in the Library. Readers will be required to wear a suitable face covering if they wish to access the Reading Room.
