Launch of UK Young Academy14 June 2022
The UK Young Academy is a new interdisciplinary organisation of UK-based early-career researchers, innovators and professionals from across society who share a passion to improve our world.
Northern Ireland-based early-career researchers can now apply for membership of the first UK-wide national Young Academy which launched on 14 June. The UK Young Academy will bring together researchers, innovators, clinicians, professionals, academics and entrepreneurs to tap into their collective potential and expertise to tackle important issues in society.
The initiative, as part of an interdisciplinary collaboration with seven senior partner Academies - the Royal Society, Academy of Medical Sciences, British Academy, Learned Society of Wales, Royal Academy of Engineering, Royal Society of Edinburgh and the Royal Irish Academy - aspires to connect emerging leaders with different knowledge and expertise, and include their voices in local and global policy discussions.
Applicants will come from a variety of sectors, be at the early stages of their professional careers and will have made significant contributions to their fields. Please note this call is for Great Britain and Northern Ireland-based applicants only.
Applications for membership to the UK Young Academy are now open; details of selection criteria and how to apply can be found on the UK Young Academy website. Applications will close on 8 September 2022.
The Royal Irish Academy will be launching the Young Academy of Ireland in July 2022 which will bring together early-career researchers from all disciplines across the island of Ireland. More details will be announced in the coming weeks. The UK Young Academy will complement the activities of the Young Academy of Ireland.
