The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Member Profile: Christine Casey

Christine Casey, Architectural Historian was admitted as a Member of the Royal Irish Academy on 24 May 2019.

Christine Casey is professor in Architectural History at Trinity College Dublin. The artisans who built and decorated buildings in Dublin are a particular focus of her research, and her scholarship highlights their work and that of their fellow artisans across Europe. Her latest book, Making magnificence: architects, stuccatori, and the eighteenth-century interior (Yale University Press, 2017), was awarded the Alice Davis Hitchcock Medallion by the Society of Architectural Historians of Great Britain, for its outstanding contribution to the knowledge of architectural history.
