The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

The Royal Irish Academy host the EASAC Environment Steering Panel

The EASAC Environment Steering Panel recently met in Dublin.

The EASAC Environment Steering Panel meets normally twice yearly to discuss the latest issues of concern to the Environment science community, general strategy and decisions on project proposals. The Steering Panel is chaired by Lars Walløe (Norway) and its general organisation and day-to-day business is led by Mike Norton (Japan / UK).

On Thursday 20th September 2018 the Steering Panel was in Dublin to discuss the panel’s current progress and future research projects. The Royal Irish Academy was delighted to host the panel in Academy House, with our own member, Professor Mike Jones being the Academy’s representative. Preceding the meeting in Academy House, the Royal Irish Academy, led by Professor Peter McHugh MRIA, Policy and International Relations Secretary, welcomed the panel to Dublin over dinner in the capital on Wednesday 19th September. It was a very enjoyable two days for all involved, and the Royal Irish Academy looks forward to seeing the future work done by the Steering Panel.
