Royal Irish Academy Response to Consultation Questions relating to the Guidance on the Implementation of Plan S

15 February 2019

The Royal Irish Academy  has submitted a Response to Consultation Questions relating to the Guidance on the Implementation of Plan S.

The Royal Irish Academy has submitted a response to the Plan S Implementation Guidelines Consultation. The response outlines the main points of concern raised at a briefling session recently held by the Academy and NORF to raise awareness of the plan and get feedback from the Academic Community. It also strongly endorses the Response to Plan S from All European Academies (ALLEA).

ALLEA Response

The response, which will be followed up with further work in this area this year, endorses the support of the Academy for the All European Academies (ALLEA) response to Plan S which was released in December 2018. The ALLEA response, which has been the subject of discussions between Science Europe and ALLEA and is likely to have a significant impact in further iterations of Plan S guidance, was lead authored by Luke Drury, MRIA.

British Academy Response

The Academy also drew attention to their support for the British Academy submission to this consultation and to their intention to continue working proactively in this area.

About Plan S

Plan S is an initiative for Open Access publishing that was launched in September 2018. The plan is supported by cOAlition S, an international consortium of research funders. Plan S requires that, from 2020, scientific publications that result from research funded by public grants must be published in compliant Open Access journals or platforms. Click here to read more.
