The Royal Irish Academy's response to the draft heads of the Research and Innovation Bill 2023.

In response to the release of the draft heads of the Research and Innovation Bill 2023, the Royal Irish Academy has today released a statement welcoming the ambitious vision and agenda for Irish research contained within its commitment to support research across all the disciplines. The Academy believes the Bill should include a specific duty to protect and support academic freedom, and place a duty upon the proposed research agency to consult with the research community on any major proposals for reform to the funding landscape. It further calls for the specific representation of researchers in the new Agency's Board.
