THE ROYAL IRISH ACADEMY IS IRELAND'S LEADING BODY OF EXPERTS IN THE SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES

Dr Ena Prosser Women in leadership Masterclass

17 April 2018

Ena Prosser gave the second in our Women in Leadership Series, that sees ouststanding women leaders share their experiences with the next generation of female leaders to inspire, motivate and mentor.

Ena spoke about her career and shared her insights on self development, awareness, mentorship and success.  She advised that people try to see their own talents and embrace the 'weird' things about you as these can often be the talents that make you stand out. Feed your confidence with travel, time with family and hobbies you enjoy. Stop every so often and do a 360 view to check in with your perceptions of how things are. You don't have to do things a man's way to succeed. Mentorship is important but the right mentor can be male or female and should be able to give you insights not solve your problems. A great final piece of advice was that it is never too late to write a thank-you note.

The format was very good. It was very relaxed and informal enough that all members of the group seemed happy to ask questions or volunteer information about themselves.
