THE ROYAL IRISH ACADEMY IS IRELAND'S LEADING BODY OF EXPERTS IN THE SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES

The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Meet the authors: a new video series

24 April 2020

Bringing our authors to your homes to help you through these strange times.

The Academy, like many other publishers and cultural institutions, is reaching out to the public while its doors remain closed due to Covid-19. With our new 'Meet the authors' video series we want to bring our authors directly to our readers' homes, to help keep you informed and engaged until things get back to normal.

Starting from Monday, 27 April, and over the upcoming weeks, we will share video messages from our authors on our YouTube channel, as well as on our social media platforms. In these videos, our authors will take the opportunity to introduce themselves, read some excerpts from their books, answer questions that they get asked all the time or tell you more about their research and upcoming projects.

To celebrate the launch of this new series, we have partnered again with The Irish Times to offer our readers a free download of Modern Ireland in 100 Artworks, edited by Fintan O’Toole, Catherine Marshall and Eibhear Walshe. You can download the eBook here until 31 May 2020.

Subscribe to our YouTube channel or follow us on Twitter and Facebook not to miss any of the episodes. We hope you’ll like our new ‘Meet the authors’ series and we look forward to hearing what you think.
