We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Engineering and Computer Sciences Committee and Engineers Ireland's report on retention and progression of early career women engineers and computer scientists

The Academy’s Engineering and Computer Sciences (E&CS) Committee, in conjunction with Engineers Ireland, convened a one-day event on 26 September 2017 to explore the problems and issues associated with the retention and progression of early career women engineers and computer scientists.

The aim was to consider best practice here and elsewhere, and to develop a set of recommendations on how to improve the situation of gender equality in Ireland.
