Launch of ‘Representations of Jews in Irish literature’ Exhibition

06 July 2016

Landmark project of Ulster University and the National University of Ireland, Galway launched at the Royal Irish Academy, 30 June 2016

H.E. Ambassador Ze’ev Boker and Mrs Boker were guests of honour at the event which was attended by academics, historians, literary scholars, friends of the library and a strong representation from Dublin’s Jewish community. The Irish-Jewish Museum was represented by Chair, Mr Yariv Reisler, and Vice-Chair, Yvonne Altman-O’Connor, who launched the exhibition.

The ‘Representations’ exhibition is one of the key outcomes of an Ulster University–NUI Galway collaboration led by Professor Pól Ó Dochartaigh, MRIA, Vice-President, NUI Galway, who delivered a fascinating lecture especially prepared for the occasion, ‘Hyphenated identities:  Irish-Jewish autobiography, 1935-2012’.

- From the Leabhar Breac and the Annals of Inisfallen to modern Jewish-Irish writers and Leopold Bloom, we invite you to come to see this thought-provoking display. https://www.ria.ie/events/representations-jews-irish-literature
