Online Webinar focusing on the PEACE PLUS programme and the opportunities it holds for the Higher Education and Research system.
The Royal Irish Academy would like to invite you to a virtual webinar focusing on how the Higher Education and Research System can positively engage with the impending PEACE PLUS programme in order to achieve the maximum impact for the goals and objectives of both the HE and Research Community and the PEACE Plus programme itself.
This webinar is sponsored by the Communicating Europe Initiative at the Department of Foreign Affairs and the key speaker will be the Minister of State for European Affairs, Thomas Byrne, TD.
The PEACE PLUS Programme will aim to contribute to a more peaceful, prosperous and stable society in Northern Ireland and the border counties of Ireland, and will leave a lasting legacy. The programme hopes to achieve this by funding activities that promote peace and reconciliation and contribute to cross border economic and territorial development. The Programme’s strategy is to continue to take the opportunities and address the needs arising from the peace process in order to boost economic growth and stimulate social and economic regeneration and secondly, to promote social inclusion, particularly for those at the margins of economic and social life.
This webinar will seek to highlight the new PEACE PLUS programme and raise awareness of the opportunities it contains for the Higher Education and Research sector and also how that sector can engage positively with the programme in order to further it’s aims.
A roundtable discussion involving a broad range of stakeholders has previously taken place as part of this work and a discussion document outlining this session will be published on the day.
The session will take place on the 26th of May at 11;00-12:00. It will be chaired by Gerry Mckenna, the Senior Vice-President of the Royal Irish Academy and the keynote speaker will be Minister Thomas Byrne. The session will then hear from expert panellists giving their views and experience on this topic before opening up for a Q+A.
