A new IAP Statement highlights medical opportunities in addressing the causes of disease and warns against the misuse of regenerative medicine technologies – also when it comes to the proposed use of stem cells to tackle COVID-19.
The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. We work with sister academies across the world including the Royal Society, the German National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina, the Council of Finnish Academies, and the Swiss Academies of Arts and Sciences to provide evidence to inform policy development in health and agriculture.
