The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Dublin Talks

Sponsored by Science Foundation Ireland (SFI) and Dublin City Council, this series of inspiring talks showcased the best of Irish Research in an accessible way. Dublin Talks was organised by the Royal Irish Academy ran from 2012 to 2014 with each talk recorded and made available online.

Speakers were selected based on their outstanding research area and captivating topic. From genetics and cancer to marine biology and economics, each speaker spoke for six minutes to tell the audience about their big idea, without the use of Power Point or notes – a challenge for even the most experienced public speaker!
