The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

M.B. Jones

Mike B. Jones is a plant ecophysiologist and an Emeritus Fellow in Trinity College Dublin. Professor Jones is also a Member of the Royal Irish Academy. His main research interest is in the study of climate-plant interactions and since the 1980's he has been studying the effects of changing climate, and the direct effects of rising CO2 on a range of ecosystems including agricultural and natural grasslands and tropical wetlands. He is joint editor of Irish Grasslands: Their Biology and Management (1995).
