Séamas Ó Maitiú and Rachel Murphy to speak at 'Eureka! A seminar exploring discoveries at the Registry of Deeds' taking place in the Registry of Deeds as part of Heritage Week.

As part of Heritage Week 2019, the Irish Historic Towns Atlas's Drs Séamas Ó Maitiú (author of forthcoming Dublin Suburbs, no. 2 Rathmines) and Rachel Murphy (IHTA GIS researcher) will both speak about their findings in the Registry of Deeds on Rathmines and land evictions in Carlow during the 1830s respectively. This vastly rich archive offers much to the researcher and is one of the core sources used by the Irish Historic Towns Atlas series. It contains over five million memorial records and seventeen thousand bound volumes.

This event is being run by the Property Registration Authority  of Ireland as part of their Heritage Week activities and takes place on Thursday 22 August at 18:00 in the Registry of Deeds, Henrietta Street, Dublin 1. Attendance is free, but booking essential via Eventbrite
