Excavation of two enclosure/hut sites in Ballyganner North, Co. Clare (Phase 2)

The excavation of two enclosure/hut sites CL009-242---- and CL009-292---- in the townland of Ballyganner North, Co. Clare was undertaken from 8 May to the 26 May 2023. Two trenches were excavated.

Castlepook Caves Project

This report summarises the results of two weeks of excavation and survey work at Kilcolman Cave from April 1-15, 2023, and three days of geophysics at Castlepook Cave from September 12-14, 2023.

The Rock of Lough Key

Excavations continued on the Rock of Lough Key for a third season, following successful campaigns in 2019 and 2022.

The site is a Neolithic stone axe quarry site of international importance. Activity in 2021 focused on quarrying and production of stone axes and work on the ceramic assemblage.

In 2021 two new trenches were cut at the foot of the mound, to clarify and date the construction history of the mound and ditches.
