The Published Works of Eilís Dillon: Editions and Translations, Editorial Notes

A number of issues and limitations emerged during the creation of this database and significant choices were made during its compilation. Entries are confined to Dillon's published works. Since details of Dillon's extensive lecture notes, reviews, drafts and unpublished works are already accessible to the public as part of the Manuscript Collection of the National Library of Ireland, these are not included in this project.

Every effort has been made to reference all Irish and international publications although many of these works are no longer in print and are unavailable outside specific libraries. While it was deemed desirable to have images of book covers to accompany all of the entries, this was not possible due to copyright issues. It should be noted that, as ISBN numbers were not assigned to many of the earlier books, some entries have no accompanying signifying number. Some other ISBN numbers have not yet been identified.

The site allows access to publication details under a number of facets, among them, city, country and language of publication, translator, illustrator, genre, intended audience, and keywords. It is hoped that this will facilitate scholars and other interested parties to readily gain bibliographic information useful to their purpose. It is intended that the database will be expanded as extra items are discovered and these will be included in this on-going project.
