The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Robert Marshall

Joint Honorary Treasurer and Chairman Publications Committee of the Irish Legal History Society

Robert Marshall (moderator [Dub.] MA MBA) is a retired solicitor having practiced with A & L Goodbody for 30 years, specializing in property.  Currently, joint honorary treasurer and chairman of the publications committee of the Irish Legal History Society, he served as president 2012-15.  He is also honorary treasurer of the Irish Committee of Historical Sciences.

A contributor to the Dictionary of Irish Biography on members of the Irish judiciary at the time of the war of independence, he has lectured on the 1916 trials.  His interests include the career of The Hon. WE Wylie KC and aspects of the land war in Cavan 1880-1895.

A priest ordained for the auxiliary ministry of the Church of Ireland and attached to Stillorgan and Blackrock, he is Deputy Diocesan and Provincial Registrar of Dublin and Glendalough
