We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Théophile Munyangeyo

Théophile Munyangeyo is a linguist with nearly three decades of a sustained track record of excellence in teaching, learning, research and leadership. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy in the United Kingdom. He has been the institutional representative to the University Council for Modern Languages (UCML), Routes into Languages (RiL), the Chartered Institute of Linguists (CIOL) and the Institute of Translation and Interpreting (ITI). 
Théophile Munyangeyo has organised and chaired international conferences, led seminars and workshops, given guest lectures in European and African universities on a variety of topics in applied linguistics, intercultural communications and research skills. For many years, he has been Director of Research and Enterprise and has held the readership position and visiting professorships in applied linguistics and intercultural communications. His research outputs and various memberships to research committees and editorial boards of international language journals reflect a conferment of an internationally recognised peer esteem in his multidisciplinary research area. 
Théophile Munyangeyo is currently Deputy Director of the Trinity Centre for Global Intercultural Communications at Trinity College Dublin, the University of Dublin. He is the Course Director for the postgraduate programmes in Applied Intercultural Communications; Co-Chair of the Equality, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EEDI) Committee; Member of the Postgraduate Committee and Member of the Executive Committee within the School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies. He has a very wide plurilingual repertoire and impressive intercultural competences.
