Contributors to 1916 Portraits and Lives will discuss the lives of three key figures involved in the Easter Rising.
The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

A special event will be hosted to remember Michael O'Hanrahan, after whom Wexford Station was renamed in 1966.

A special event will be hosted to remember Edward Daly, after whom Bray Station was renamed in 1966.

A special event will be hosted to remember Seán Heuston, after whom Kingsbridge Station was renamed in 1966.
Two special events will be hosted to remember Padraig and William Pearse and James Connolly, after whom two Dublin stations were renamed in 1966.
