The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Una Sugrue

Conservation Architect

Una Sugrue is a Conservation Architect who worked at the Grangegorman Development Agency from 2011 to 2021, providing advice and assistance to her colleagues in relation to building conservation and the care of all the protected structures on the Campus. She is now working as a freelance architectural researcher with the Buildings of Ireland Charitable Trust for the latest volume in their Ireland Series:  North Connacht - Leitrim, Roscommon and Sligo.

The Grangegorman Campus contains 11 protected structures together with the boundary wall, which has also protected status. Grangegorman also has an extensive nineteenth century archaeological resource which requires careful management during the redevelopment of the site.
