Introduction

For this event a panel of speakers with diverse backgrounds in bioengineering, research governance, health research, and forensic and legal medicine were invited to respond to the question, ‘What is Ethical Research?’ Following the four introductory talks there was moderated discussion chaired by Professor Aaron Maule (School of Biological Sciences, Queen’s University Belfast), that explored insights from the stories and delved deeper into some of the following issues: informed consent and data sharing, commercialisation, science communication.
