THE ROYAL IRISH ACADEMY IS IRELAND'S LEADING BODY OF EXPERTS IN THE SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES

The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. Placing Our Heritage: Irish Historic Towns Atlas Cork video

23 August 2023

During Heritage Week the premiere of the Cork atlas preview video took place.

To mark Heritage Week 2023, this video presents the work of the Irish Historic Towns Atlas (IHTA) on the city of Cork and gives a flavour of what can be expected from the new atlas in its print and digital forms. IHTA Cork/Corcaigh by H.B. Clarke and Máire Ní Laoi will be published by the Royal Irish Academy (in association with Cork City Council) in 2024. In advance of the printed atlas and with support from the Heritage Council’s Stewardship Fund 2023, a Digital Atlas of the City of Cork is under preparation and will be released in November 2023.

The video was produced by Frameworks Films

Many thanks to Cork City Council, Cork Public Museum, Crawford Art Gallery, Cork Archives, Digital Repository of Ireland, The Heritage Council and Tailte Eireann.
