Heritage Week 2024
National Heritage Week 2024 takes place from 17 – 25 August. National Heritage Week celebrates Ireland’s Built, Cultural and Natural heritage with events across the country.
IHTA Heritage Week activities 2024
The IHTA will be involved in two events during Heritage Week. Howard Clarke will deliver a lecture on Cork’s history on 21 August and Angela Byrne will be involved in a number of Ballyshannon events on 23 August.

‘The Coastwatchers’: Ireland’s Second World War early warning system
For Heritage Week 2024 Dr Michael Kennedy, Executive Editor of the RIA’s Document on Irish Foreign Policy series, explores the remains of a network of coastal early warning military look out posts, a chapter in Ireland’s Second World War history which can still be found along the Irish coast.
