Antiquarian Drawings

A collection of c.8,600 antiquarian sketches and drawings covering the period between the late eighteenth and early twentieth centuries. The drawings - mainly watercolours and sketches in ink or pencil - range from the depiction of Irish landscapes to places and objects of archaeological and architectural interest.

Darley Collection

Drawings of chimney-pieces created by George and Hill Darley in the course of their work as stone-cutters in Dublin between c. 1757-1813. These drawings are considered to be one of the most extensive collections of original late eighteenth-century designs for chimney-pieces in Britain or Ireland.

Senate Casket

The Senate Casket was commissioned in 1924 by historian and senator, Alice Stopford Green, 1847-1929, as a gift to the first Senate of the Irish Free State. Stopford Green intended that the Casket should hold a vellum roll containing the signature of every member of the first Irish Seanad
