THE ROYAL IRISH ACADEMY IS IRELAND'S LEADING BODY OF EXPERTS IN THE SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES

The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Legacies

Over the years, bequests to the Royal Irish Academy have enabled us to provide support to early career researchers, expand the scholarship of identified areas of study and preserve valuable manuscripts and materials in our library, guaranteeing future researchers access to these treasured resources.

Once provision has been made for family and other commitments, a donor may consider making a residual bequest to the RIA. We welcome any endowment funding help and support and, in turn, we will do everything we can to meet the wishes and requirements of a donor in the allocation of these funds. For example, you might like to fund, in your name or in the name of someone very dear to you, some RIA research activity or restoration project in an area which is of special interest to you.

If you think this could be worth exploring further, in the first instance please contact, in confidence, Karen Muldowney, Acting Head of Communications k.muldowney@ria.ie
