Matthews Seaver
Secretary of Standing Committee for ArchaeologyNational Museum of Ireland
I completed a BSc in Archaeological Science in the University of Bradford (1995) and a MA in Archaeology in UCD (1997) focussed on Medieval Boroughs in County Meath. As a license eligible archaeologist I directed excavations of different scales such as the landscape at Laughanstown, Co. Dublin, the early medieval cemetery, settlement and mills at Raystown, Co. Meath and settlements in Nobber and Trim, Co. Meath. I have published extensively including a co-edited volume on Excavations in Trim and a monograph on Raystown, Co. Meath. As a researcher at UCD School of Archaeology I contributed to the forthcoming Rathgall monograph, a BAR volume as well as preparation of publications of Templeteenaun and Temple-na-Skellig, Co. Wicklow. As Assistant Keeper Grade I in the Irish Antiquities Division I curate early medieval collections and input to a wide range of issues concerning excavation. I am a member of the Institute of Archaeologists of Ireland and am on the editorial board of the JIA.
