Alison Garden is a literary critic and cultural historian whose research focuses on modern and contemporary Ireland. As a UKRI Future Leader Fellow at Queen’s University Belfast, Alison leads the interdisciplinary project, ‘Acts of Union: Mixed Marriage in Modern Ireland’. After studying in London and Edinburgh, Alison held research fellowships at University College Dublin, funded by the Irish Research Council and Leverhulme Trust, and was a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Fellow at Queen’s. She is passionate about developing tailored support for Early Career Researchers. A keen champion of the value of research—especially the humanities—Alison has written for TIME, Al Jazeera, the Irish Times and the Guardian.
