The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Jennifer McMahon

Psychologist

Jennifer McMahon is a psychologist whose research focuses on understanding and promoting school, child and youth mental health and wellbeing. Her work draws on meaningful community and stakeholder partnerships and she is the recipient of the UL Presidents Award for Community Engagement as well as a Limerick City Mayoral Award for Community Impact. She is the Irish lead for CoSPACE Ireland, a longitudinal tracking study of families and children throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Jennifer is also a Science Foundation Ireland Scholar and is currently working in collaboration with high level stakeholders to develop and pilot a psychological science programme to promote transition year student mental health.
