We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Mark Scanlon

Mark Scanlon is an Associate Professor in the UCD School of Computer Science, where he is Programme Director for the MSc in Forensic Computing and Cybercrime Investigation, Principal Investigator at CeADAR, Ireland’s National Centre for Applied Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Director of the Forensics and Security Research Group. Mark’s research interests surround the application of AI to cybersecurity and digital evidence discovery and analysis. He is a Fulbright Scholar and an IEEE Senior Member, a Senior Editor with Elsevier’s journal, Forensic Science International: Digital Investigation, and a member of the organising committee of the pre-eminent conference in his field, Digital Forensics Research Workshop (DFRWS EU).
