THE ROYAL IRISH ACADEMY IS IRELAND'S LEADING BODY OF EXPERTS IN THE SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES

The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

As part of Heritage Week 2023, a short video on the Cork atlas has been released.

Irish Historic Towns Atlas (IHTA) Cork/Corcaigh by H.B. Clarke and Máire Ní Laoi will be published by the Royal Irish Academy (in association with Cork City Council) in 2024. In advance of the printed atlas and with support from the Heritage Council’s Stewardship Fund 2023, a Digital Atlas of the City of Cork is under preparation and will be released in November 2023. To mark Heritage Week 2023, a video about the project has been created to show people what they can expect and look forward to from the new atlas of Cork city, in its print and digital forms.
