Digital Repository of Ireland Joins National Women’s Council of Ireland

21 July 2021

The Digital Repository of Ireland (DRI) recently became a member of the National Women’s Council of Ireland (NWC).

National Women’s Council of Ireland (NWC). is the leading national organisation for women and women’s groups in Ireland. Their ambition is to build towards ‘an Ireland where every woman enjoys true equality and no woman is left behind’. They currently have more than 190 members representing a wide variety of women and women’s groups from across the country. These member organisations contribute their expertise and experience to shaping the work of the NWC.

DRI is committed to recognising, recording, and preserving the work of women through digital preservation projects like Archiving Reproductive Health, which aims to provide long-term preservation and access to the many at-risk archives generated by grassroots women’s health movements. We are excited to contribute our expertise to the NWC network of members.

DRI Director Dr Natalie Harrower said:

We are proud to join the National Women’s Council of Ireland, and to contribute to the agenda of achieving equality for all women and girls in Ireland. The NWC’s important work and wide network of members will help DRI’s aim to continually embed the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion across our work and our organisation. We look forward to contributing to the NWC through its core values of being feminist, inclusive, fearless, caring, strategic and diverse.

Orla O’Connor, Director of the National Women’s Council said:

We are delighted that the Digital Repository of Ireland has joined the National Women’s Council and look forward to working with the organisation as our member. DRI plays a crucial role in documenting and recognising the campaigns and activism of women.

DRI is delighted to be a member of the NWC and we look forward to participating in NWC training opportunities and outreach events, contributing to policy decisions, and to supporting the work of the organisation as it continues to strive to create a more diverse, inclusive, and equal Ireland.
