Explore Grangegorman's Histories

24 May 2022

Explore Grangegorman’s Histories with a series of short introductory articles uncovering the histories of Grangegorman.

This series will share short essays introducing the histories of a range of topics associated the people, the places and practices of this area. The series is designed to invite interest and further exploration of these topics. Each essay will include details of the sources used in researching the piece, and these will serve as resources for further discovery. Grangegorman Histories have commissioned local, national and international historians to research and share these histories: exploring histories that are familiar and introducing histories that may not be familiar.

We begin our series with Grangegorman before the institutions by Professor Raymond Gillespie, Maynooth University exploring the history of Grangegorman from around 1400 up to the mid-1700s, a time before the construction of the first in a series of large institutions in the area.
