Come and visit the nineteenth century Reading Room, our library collection of over 116,000 items is at the heart of the Royal Irish Academy. The library is an important centre for anyone studying Irish history, language, archaeology, poetry, music, natural history, architecture, genealogy, and science.
Visitors of all ages can try their hand at ogham writing, colouring in manuscripts, and other fun activities!
Visitors will also have the opportunity to view the 6th century manuscript – The Cathach, which is the earliest example of Irish writing.
Library staff will also be on hand to help answer questions about our collection, the history of the Academy and the architectural heritage of 19 Dawson Street.
