We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

A one-day conference examining research and church records after disestablishment.

As part of the Dublin Festival of History and in association with Dublin City Council, the Royal Irish Academy will host a one-day conference to examine approaches to the research and preservation of landscapes and places of faith across Ireland following the disestablishment of the Church of Ireland. Multidisciplinary panels will include Landscapes and Histories, Histories and Archives, and Archives and Dialogues.
