The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Archaeology Research Excavation Grants – Deadline 23:55 (GMT) Thursday 26 October 2017.

The Royal Irish Academy Standing Committee for Archaeology has the responsibility of allocating and administering funds for research excavation provided annually by the Department of Culture, Heritage and the Gaeltacht.
