THE ROYAL IRISH ACADEMY IS IRELAND'S LEADING BODY OF EXPERTS IN THE SCIENCES AND HUMANITIES

The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

The National Open Research Forum (NORF) is collaborating with FAIRsFAIR to present a webinar focused on FAIR data.

As part of a webinar series on Open Research in Ireland, the National Open Research Forum (NORF) is collaborating with FAIRsFAIR to present a webinar focused on FAIR data. FAIRsFAIR – Fostering Fair Data Practices in Europe – aims to supply practical solutions for the use of the FAIR data principles throughout the research data life cycle.

NORF has been developing a National Open Research Landscape Report to summarise progress and challenges in each of the strategic areas of Ireland’s National Framework on the Transition to an Open Research Environment. Against this background, speakers will introduce topics including support for FAIR data through policy enhancement, professionalising data stewardship, and monitoring FAIR data and open science. Participants will be encouraged to give feedback on each topic.

This webinar is targeted at the national research community in Ireland, including research support staff, librarians, researchers, and funder representatives. We encourage data stewards, managers and coordinators and all those involved in research data support to invite the researchers they work with and vice-versa: strengthening this type of collaboration is at the core of FAIR best practices.
