Peter is a lecturer in Computer Science at Maynooth University. He has been working in the domain of spatial data management, geocomputation and GIScience for over 15 years. His current research is heavily focused on the assessment and quality of data from Volunteered Geographic Information (VGI), User-generated spatial content and geographically-based Citizen Science. In particular he is deeply interested in how these forms of open data can be reused as widely as possible, particularly by academia, industry and authoritative agencies such as National Mapping and Cadastral agencies.
Peter is widely published in peer-reviewed journals in his discipline and is one of Europe's foremost experts on the geocomputational aspects of VGI and Citizen Science. He is involved a number of EU-based projects and is actively involved in the organisation of workshops and conferences in his area of research.
