Archaeological Archives Research Grants

The new Archaeological Archives Research Grants scheme which opened for the first time in September will provide funding for Jessica Smyth to carry out the second phase of an osteological and bioarchaeological analysis of the Fourknocks I and II Neolithic human bone assemblage

Archaeology Research Excavation Grants

This year the Archaeology Research Excavation Grants funding will enable the continued excavation of a previously investigated enclosure/hut site at Ballyganner North in Co. Clare by Elaine Lynch, as well as the continuation of the Castlepook Cave excavations in Co. Cork by Richard Jennings. This scheme will also fund two new projects, namely Donald Murphy’s excavation of the Keadeen Cursus in Co. Wicklow and Nial O’Neill’s Ballymoon Castle Research Project in Co. Carlow.

Archaeology Legacy Grants scheme

Under the Archaeology Legacy Grants scheme funding for the Moynagh Lough project in County Meath by Michael Potterton continues for another year, as well as supporting the completion of outstanding post-excavation work for Lisleagh in Co. Cork by Michael Monk and Muiris O’Sullivan’s final report on Knockroe, Co. Kilkenny.

Archaeological Research for World Heritage Sites

Funding under the Archaeological Research for World Heritage Sites scheme will also enable Clíona Ní Lionáin to carry out a pollen analysis of the Dowth Hall Passage Tomb.
