Archaeology Research Grants and Radiocarbon Dates schemes open to applications

09 February 2024

The Royal Irish Academy is delighted to open applications for the Archaeology Research Grants and Radiocarbon dates schemes until 29 March 2024.

Archaeology Research Grants Scheme

The Royal Irish Academy is happy to once more open the annual Archaeology Research Grants Scheme in partnership with the National Monuments Service (Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage), and the Historic Environment Division (Department for Communities, NI) which enables this scheme to operate on an all-island basis.

This scheme welcomes proposals for smaller-scale archaeological research associated with the archaeology of Ireland and/or Northern Ireland.

The Archaeology Research Grants scheme opens on 9 February 2024 and closes on 29 March 2024.

Archaeology Radiocarbon Dates Scheme

In association with Queen's University Belfast the Royal Irish Academy also offers a radiocarbon scheme which facilitates dating for up to twelve applicants per annum to be used for the purposes of archaeological research in Ireland.

Both schemes are open to archaeological researchers/archaeologists, including undergraduate students, postgraduate students, and PhD candidates.

The Archaeology Radiocarbon dates scheme opens on 9 February 2024 and closes on 29 March 2024.
