The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

Roundtable at Queens University Belfast on issues and challenges relating to Brexit

On Friday 17 February the Royal Irish Academy and the British Academy convened a roundtable in Queen’s University Belfast, on the topic of ‘Brexit and Borders’.

The meeting considered a wide range of issues and challenges relating to Brexit, and marks the continuation of the RIA’s ongoing collaboration with the British Academy on this topic. This included two co-hosted roundtables in March 2016, which considered the implications of Brexit for the Northern Irish higher education and research sector and on UK-Ireland relations.
