The Royal Irish Academy/Acadamh Ríoga na hÉireann champions research. We identify and recognise Ireland’s world class researchers. We support scholarship and promote awareness of how science and the humanities enrich our lives and benefit society. We believe that good research needs to be promoted, sustained and communicated. The Academy is run by a Council of its members. Membership is by election and considered the highest academic honour in Ireland.

The Academy's response to the consultation on the national research and innovation strategy, 2021-2027.

The Royal Irish Academy has responded to the consultation by the Higher Education Authority and the Department of Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Sciences on the next national research and innovation strategy to 2027.

The submission reflects on the importance of supporting a balanced and diverse research system and base, putting people at the centre of research policies and funding instruments, and greater engagement with the public when designing, conducting and communicating research.
