International Activities
The Royal Irish Academy is a member of several global academic networks and international scholarly associations.
We work to raise the international profile of Ireland’s researchers and research networks, strengthen the voice of the sciences, humanities and social sciences in high-level debates, and support international collaboration and mobility through Academy grants programmes. We work closely with sister academies including joint projects, policy statements and international research collaboration grants.
The Royal Irish Academy nominates suitable candidates for esteemed and prestigious international prizes. In addition to endorsing nominations, the Academy communicates successful candidates’ activities to national academics and policymakers in Ireland. International prizes the Academy engages with include
- The Baillet Latour Health Prize
- The Wolf Prize
- The John Maddox Prize
- The TÜBA Academy Prizes
- The International Balzan Foundation Prizesation
- The Academy of Sciences of Turin Prizes
- The Louis-Jeantet Prizes
- The Antonio Feltrinelli Prizes
- The All European Academies Madame de Staël Prize for Cultural Values
- Ernst Schering Prize
Opportunities to apply for international prizes are advertised via the Academy’s Newsletters, the Academy website and associated social media activities. Please direct any queries about nominations to international prizes to policy@ria.ie
